| On
1 January 1999, the Federal Government introduced
a 30% rebate on contributions to assist people with
the cost of Private Health Insurance coverage.
The 30% rebate on contributions
is available to all Australians provided they are
eligible for Medicare Benefits. It is not income
or asset 'means tested'. To claim the 30% rebate,
please download and complete the application form or contact
our Customer Service Department.
The Federal Government also has
a Medicare Levy surcharge for people who do not
have Private Health Insurance. If your taxable income
is $50,000+ for singles or $100,000+ for families,
your Medicare Levy will increase by 1% of your taxable
income if you do not have hospital coverage with
a registered health fund.
For further information on the Federal Government's
30% Rebate on Private Health Insurance, please call
our Customer Service Department or visit the Australian Government Health Insurance Commission website.
