This level of hospital cover has co payments payable by the member when hospitalised. There are also some excluded or restricted benefits.
Druids Hospital Insurance is designed to suit your needs and your budget. Our Hospital Cover with Co-Payments allows you to reduce the premium by agreeing to pay a daily amount whenever you have to go to hospital. This cover also has some excluded and restricted benefits to help you lower the cost of health cover.
Exclusions and Restricted Benefits
The following benefits are not covered under this product:
- IVF, Surrogacy and any artificial means of conception
- Obstetrics
- Coronary artery disease
- Plastic and cosmetic surgery
- Hip Replacement
- Knee Replacement
- Renal and Peritoneal Dialysis
Benefits for Psychiatric and Rehabilitation services are restricted to those minimum amounts required by Private health insurance (Benefit Requirements) Rules 2008 as amended from time to time.
Private Hospitals with an agreement
If your hospital of choice is a Druids Agreement Hospital, you will be charged a maximum of $60 per day in a shared ward or $70 per day in a private room. These co-payments apply for an overnight stay or longer.
There are limits to the number of days that this co-payment will apply, depending on the agreement with the hospital.
Members should contact the hospital they will be attending as the hospital will be able to provide details on this limit.
Day procedure treatment will incur an out of pocket expense of $30
Private Hospitals without Druids Health Insurance Agreements
When treated in a private hospital without a Druids Friendly Society agreement, the following benefits will apply:

This table also includes a rebate for Surgically Implanted Prosthesis. Hospital in-patient doctors bills attract the standard Medical Gap benefit of 25% of the Commonwealth Medical Benefits Scheduled Fee. Druids Gap Cover of an additional 20% will be paid to doctors participating in the Gap Cover System.
