Druids update

The last 12 months have been a challenging yet exciting time in the life of Druids Friendly Society. Last year, as you know, we sold our Health Insurance business to GMHBA. Since then, with your help, we have examined the future direction we would like to see Druids take.

Druids is committed to offering the products and services that supports you Living Confidently. We have always put our members at the centre of everything we do and this phrase, we believe, captures this philosophy.

To underline this fresh start we have updated our logo and branding. This new livery will appear in all of our communications including the website.

You may have seen, and indeed, answered the member survey we issued in July of this year. There were two important purposes behind this:

  • Ensuring the information we hold on our members is up to date and correct
  • Find out from our members the types of products and services you need

The response from the survey was fantastic and surpassed our expectations. Almost 20% of members took the time and effort to submit their completed questionnaire. We now know what our members expect and we fully intend to provide the means necessary for them to go on Living Confidently.

A large majority of the members who replied to the survey have indicated an interest in products and services from Druids. We have already started the work in establishing these products and services. We will keep you up to date with our progress.

We are busy planning to launch a new Funeral Bond as well as new Estate Planning service. Again, we will provide you with more details of these, as and when they become available. However, if you are interested in these please products then please email us at enquiries@druids.com.au

To improve our communication with members we propose to issue a new regular Druids’ newsletter. The idea for this was also well received in the member survey and it will cover a whole range of topics from financial planning and management to DIY and gardening tips. The first edition of the newsletter will be issued in November 2009. We plan to issue both an online and printed version.

In addition to the above, we will also be looking to organise and host a series of seminars – initially in and around Melbourne – covering topics of interest to our members.

As you can see we have not been sitting idly by since selling the Health Insurance business. The future is shaping up to be both exciting and challenging as we look to help our members achieve our goal of Living Confidently. And we want you to be there to share it with us.

Member Renewal
To continue your membership for the next 12 months, and to participate in the next exciting chapter in Druids’ history, would normally cost you $10. However, on this occasion the Board of Directors has decided to waive the fee for this year. In the current economic climate we appreciate that every dollar is important and valuable.

Annual General Meeting
This year’s Annual General Meeting will be held at 10am on 24 November 2009 at the Bayview Eden Hotel, 1st Floor, 6 Queens Road, Melbourne.
